Get local traffic through focused local SEO campaign
So we’ve just gained a new client who needs a bit of local seo done to their site. Since we specialize in local seo and car dealers we decided it was time to share a mission with the small car dealerships of the world. We will take you on this journey with us and allow you to watch and study how we can make a local car dealer rise to the top of the most valuable keywords in the area.
There are a couple of things that we need to do to track the traffic on this site and were it’s coming from. Let’s start with a snapshot of their current stats from awstats:
Second we want to check the Alexa page rank for the site and record it. Since Alexa has recently updated their algorithm to reflect overall page visits instead of just Alexa tool bar users, we can now count on this to give us a true page ranking. The current Alexa rank is 1,363, 363.
Next we’ll need to check out the big dogs and see if the site is indexed and how many pages they have in their respective index. We do this by using the free site indexer tool. This tool will also let us see what pages are in the index and how they have been indexed by the spider. This is pretty important because we want to show up for key words and key phrases the same way on all search engines. As of late Goggle seems to be disregarding the description tag and started using page content for the description in the serps. Now this isn’t a proven phenomenon but it sure looks like it is happening across the board, in several industries. The current indexed pages are as follows:
- Google = 64
- Yahoo = 17
- MSN = 325
This shows us that MSN has indexed every page on the site while Google and MSN have only indexed top level pages. The good thing is that the pages we will be working on are all indexed, but haven’t been crawled in a couple of weeks.
Now we know what we are dealing with! This site has been able to gain a decent amount of traffic per month considering it was launched only in Nov. of last year. According to the stats they should get about 1300 unique visitors this month. Our target is to first increase traffic by 15% and then 20% and by the end we are looking to get about 3000 unique users per month solely from organic seo.
